Screening 1

In Av tech we watched a film called The General. About a guy named Johnnie who helps saved the love of his life after being captured by the North. 1 film technique used in the film is pan when the train is moving through scenes as they travel. This helps the overall film so they won’t have one part of the video just showing one frame and getting the whole train on camera.

Thin Blue Line

The Thin Blue Line uses re-enactments. When he explains what happened the night of the shooting he basically replays it throughout the film.

Morris choose to use this technique so the audience can have a better understanding of what was going on that night. This is effective because it was able to get Randall Adams out of jail.

In the movie I seen re-enactments and interviews which I can use in my movie to make it more realistic.

Bonus blog

black panther

the films overall score is a 97 and most reviews said “the movie lived up to the hype or provided a fresh spin to marvel”. Some other people feel like “marvel are adding to many characters to their movie franchise and it’s ruining the brand”.

If I had to be honest I agree with the fresh spin review because we’ve never really had a black super hero and this was something new to bring to a movie. It also gave us a perspective on a underground world we’ve never seen that felt like outsiders and a third world country to others. So I am siding with the positive view.

I think reading critic reviews are useful because sometimes it saves you money and time but other times it might make you miss out from watching something you may like.

Director Questions

Spike Lee has directed over 30 films which include movies and short films in general.

His first short film was Last Hustle in Brooklyn which came out in 1979 but his first ever movie was Joes Bed Stuy Barbershop We Cut Heads in 1983.

Yes he writes his own films and has produced multiple ones.

His breakout film was the 1986 film She’s Gotta Have it because its one of the most profitable and memorable.

His style reflect the black community and the stuff going on in the city of Brooklyn, New York. He often reflect racial tensions and what’s going on in today’s world.

Blog 5

Hey guys i’m back with another blog and I thought this project was really cool. It was just different working with people i didn’t choose but i’m happy it turnt out good. Coverage is used in the film because it makes it easier to edit. Honestly it was easier to edit because all I had to really do was put the clips in and add audio.

Screening #2-M

1 element used in the film M by Fritz Lang is zooming in and out of the killers face. To elaborate when the killer is on trail with all of the gangsters of Germany and he is beginning to be let go because he says he didn’t do it it zooms in on his face and his sad facial expressions. Another thing used in the film is foley sounds of the early movie generation. Like when everyone leaves the building when they are looking for M you can hear a bell ringing but it didn’t sound like it was recorded along with the film meaning it was put in after the filming. Foley effects are sound effects that are easier and more efficient to perform to picture. You project the movie in a studio and one or two people actually perform the sound effects to the picture. The sound effects are recorded live and are used in the final movie. I think that this is one of the first movies that actually use foley sounds to make some of the edits.
