The Thin Blue Line uses  re-enactments. When he explains what happened the night of the shooting he basically replays it throughout the film.
Morris choose to use this technique so the audience can have a better understanding of what was going on that night. This is effective because it was able to get Randall Adams out of jail.
In the movie I seen re-enactments and interviews which I can use in my movie to make it more realistic.
