1 element used in the film M by Fritz Lang is zooming in and out of the killers face. To elaborate when the killer is on trail with all of the gangsters of Germany and he is beginning to be let go because he says he didn’t do it it zooms in on his face and his sad facial expressions. Another thing used in the film is foley sounds of the early movie generation. Like when everyone leaves the building when they are looking for M you can hear a bell ringing but it didn’t sound like it was recorded along with the film meaning it was put in after the filming. Foley effects are sound effects that are easier and more efficient to perform to picture. You project the movie in a studio and one or two people actually perform the sound effects to the picture. The sound effects are recorded live and are used in the final movie. I think that this is one of the first movies that actually use foley sounds to make some of the edits.
